Visit to secondary schools in Subotica
In the period 2-4 October 2023, we had the great opportunity to visit secondary schools in Polytechnic School Subotica, Ivan Sarić Technical School, and Svetozar Marković General Secondary School within the project “Our City, Our Schools” implemented by the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa in cooperation with Group 484, with the support of the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation from Switzerland.
Through good practice examples, we learned about the way of organising classes in multiple languages with the theme of interculturality and strengthening cooperation between school students and teachers from different communities. The schools presented us with their extracurricular activities that contribute to strengthening social cohesion.
The study visit was realised with the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia, whose goal is horizontal learning in the field of intercultural education and strengthening the cooperation of teachers from different ethnic communities.
After the visit to the schools, a meeting was organized with the mentor Saša Glamocak, where the teachers exchanged experiences from the visit and ideas for further development of intercultural practice in schools through self-reflective practice. A representative of the Leskovac School Administration, as well as teachers from Nikola Tesla Technical School from Medveđa and 2 secondary schools from Preševo, Skenderbeu General Secondary School and Preševo Secondary Technical School, were with us visiting the schools.
