RRPP Annual Conference 2013 “Social, Political and Economic Change in the Western Balkans”
The Conference “Social, Political and Economic Change in the Western Balkans” was held from 24 to 26 May in Belgrade within the Regional Research Promotion Programme in the field of social sciences in the Western Balkans (RRPP), operated by the University in Fribourg, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The Conference was opened on Friday with introductory speeches and a Research Fair.
On Saturday, panels were organised. Group 484 Centre for Migration participated with a research “Transnational Entrepreneurship and the Role of State: Cases of Serbia and Albania”, presented by Ms Svetlana Milutinovic, Group 484 Centre for Migration, and Dr Brikena Balli, Institute for Change and Leadership in Albania, within the Panel: “State, Networks and Informality” . Besides this panel, the following panels were also organised: “Gender politics and discourses”, “Media, political and social discourses”, and “Migration, diasporas and remittances”. Ms Tanja Pavlov, PhD, Director of Centre for Migration was one of the discussants at the Panel “Migration Diasporas and Remittances”, and she commented on the works of the panel participants. On Sunday, the closing Conference day, a round table ““Do politicians need scientists? – Linking research and policies in the Western Balkans” was held.
