MIPEX Report – findings in the region of the Western Balkans
On Friday, March 28, 2014 a regional conference Migrant Integration Policy Index – Regional Findings in WB Region was held at the Aero Club, with the aim to present the regional research on migration policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia. The research results were presented by Zvezda Vankova, Policy Analyst for the Migration Policy Group from Brussels, which supported the research implementation.
The countries were evaluated and mutually compared according to the world recognised methodology Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) used by the Migration Policy Group from Brussels. The index is a reference guide and interactive tool for the evaluation, comparison and improvement of integration policies.
In addition to researchers from the region, who individually presented the results from their respective countries (Emir Prcanović, NGO Vasa Prava BiH; Snježana Gregurović and Drago Župarić-Iljić, Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies Croatia; Zlatko Simonovski, Centre for Research and Policy Making, Biljana Kotevska, Studiorum Macedonia), the conference speakers were Gordana Delić, Executive Director, Balkan Trust for Democracy, Vladimir Mikeljević, Solicitor and Head of the Immigration Department, Levi Solicitors, Leeds, United Kingdom and Vladimir Petronijević, Executive Director of Group 484.
The regional conference is the final event of the project Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) in the Western Balkan Region, supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD).
