II seminar module “Migration – contemporary migration flows and the social issues they generate”
On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, within the internship for fourth-year students, Department of Social Work and Social Policy of the Faculty of Political Sciences, organised and conducted by Group 484, the second seminar module was held, entitled Migration – contemporary migration flows and the social issues they generate. During this module, the seminar participants had the opportunity to get familiar with the elements of the concept of a refugee under the UN Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, asylum procedure and the way the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration care for asylum seekers in the Republic of Serbia, through the speech of the visiting lecturer, Assistant Commissioner for the reception, care, return and integration of refugees, Ivan Gerginov.
At the seminar, the students of the Faculty of Political Sciences were joined by students of the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, and it is planned that over the coming months, multi-sectoral teams, consisting of students from both faculties and their mentors from Group 484, visit centres for accommodation of asylum seekers in order to gain practical knowledge and skills through direct work with vulnerable groups on the field.
