Half Way Festival
Uzice, 22 – 26 April – High school pupils and students from Vranje, Dimitrovgrad, Belgrade, Zrenjanin, Novi Pazar, Kragujevac and Pozega were guests of regional literary festival ‘Half Way’. It was a study visit within a joint project of Dah Theatre and Group 484 ’For Culture in Serbia`, supported by the EU.
Since 2006, in mid-April, writers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia have been gathering in Uzice Gymnasium. They hold regular literature classes, and in the evenings participate in the organized public readings. The pupils of Uzice Gymnasium prepare the complete festival and promotional material. This year`s participants included the following writers: David Albahari, Sasa Stanisic, Mileta Prodanovic, Nenad Velickovic, Dejan Ilic, Emir Imamovic Pirke, Djerdj Srbohorvat, Bekim Sejranovic, Vojo Sindolic. This was an opportunity for young people from seven towns not just to see how a quality literary event was organized, but also how local cultural initiatives lasted for a number of years and developed when people were gathered round the production that meant a lot to them. Uzice festival confirmed its excellence for the eighth time in a row and made the gathered readers very happy and satisfied.
