Round tables “Support to Unaccompanied Minor Migrants“
On May 10, 2016 in Belgrade, a series of roundtables “Support to Unaccompanied Minor Migrants” was launched with the aim to bring together representatives of the public sector, international and local organisations in order to exchange experiences and improve cooperation in taking care and protecting unaccompanied migrant minors. The event was implemented by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs in cooperation with Group 484.
The round table participants had the opportunity to talk about the human and infrastructure resources, to assess cooperation with the actors involved in the protection of unaccompanied migrant minors, as well as to highlight the problems they encounter in their daily work with this vulnerable group.
During the discussion it was concluded that the training of professionals involved in the care system should be continued, especially in the field of protection of the most vulnerable (victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, traumatised children, etc.), that coordination should be improved in order to achieve a greater protective effect and that the infrastructure should be improved. It was also noted that civil society organisations, in cooperation with relevant state actors, could carry a large number of activities in the institutions which should respond to the needs of child migrants of different ages.
In order to gather as many relevant stakeholders as possible, the round tables will be held in Nis, Subotica and once again in Belgrade.
