Integration of the Immigrant Communities in Serbia – New Challenges and Opportunities
Project “Integration of the Immigrant Communities in Serbia – New Challenges and Opportunities” is aimed to improving national integration policies and facilitate access to rights for new migrant communities, with focus on children and families, by recognizing their needs, potential, and challenges.
Project results
• To contribute to the process of improvement of access and quality of education for immigrant children;
• To document and replicate good practices for creating the way of working with new immigration communities;
• To empower unemployed immigrant women encouraging them to explore self-employed possibilities or integrate within existing companies;
• To improve the knowledge of stakeholders on potential and challenges of new immigration communities and new policy solutions and innovative ideas for integration of children and families.
Project activities
• Research on the Status and Needs of Displaced Persons in Serbia due to the War in Ukraine (baseline research and needs assessment on arrivals from Ukraine and Russia and drafting of general way of working with new migrant communities in the Balkans which are not in transit);
• Preparatory classes and language classes for children;
• Employability activities targeting unemployed mothers;
• Capacity Building activities with relevant stakeholders aimed at the integration of foreigners in the Republic of Serbia with special reference to children, women, and families.
Group 484 implement this project with the support of Save the Children North West Balkans and their Programme Initiative Balkans Migration and Displacement Hub.
